Pokhara

Resting in the laps of Himalayas, Pokhara lies at an altitude of more than 800 meter from sea level. Pokhara, lying in the central part of Nepal, is about 200 km west of Kathmandu and can be reached by plane in 35 minutes or in 6 hours by bus. Few places in the world might have a splendid variety of natural beauty crammed into one small area like the valley of Pokhara. Emerald Lakes, majestic mountains, gushing rivers, green forests, amazing waterfalls, picturesque villages, dreadful caves – everything is there and all natural. The climate is sub-tropical but due to the elevation the temperatures are moderate: the summer temperatures average between 25 - 35°C, in winter around 5 - 15°C. At an elevation lower than Kathmandu, it has a much more tropical feel to it. Many tours and trekking operators, hotels, guest houses are here in Pokhara. One can easily find a place to sit back, relax and enjoy great meal while enjoying scenery here. Pokhara is a perfect starting place for hikers and trekkers.
